2 heridos en accidente de peatones San Francisco

A July 6 accident that happened just before 9 p.m. sent two pedestrians to an area hospital, officials reported. One individual suffered injuries to the head and a broken limb while the other complained of pain, but exact injuries were not noted.

The area in which the incident occurred on Sunset Boulevard is considered to be a dangerous section of the road. A traffic light along with a countdown signal are slated to be installed, and the project has been expedited after a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred in February. At that time, a 78-year-old man died while attempting to cross the notorious street.

Two additional people have suffered injuries so far in 2014 while crossing the street on foot, one a 15-year-old boy. More than 40 such accidents occurred on this stretch of Sunset between 2005 and 2011; part of the reason for the danger associated with the roadway is the six-lane design. The area has been noted for its high level of incidents, and the city is endeavoring to solve the problem.

Reports related to the July 6 incident do not indicate whether the driver involved has been cited. Additionally, available details do not explain whether a crossing signal was used by the pedestrians or whether a traffic signal may have been disregarded by the driver. The record of incidents on the roadway may indicate the need to take aggressive action in holding the city responsible for placing appropriate traffic signals for both motorists and pedestrians along the more than 2-mile stretch of road. Those injured in this incident may want to consider personal injury litigation against the city entity responsible for resolving known dangers.

A lawyer assisting either of these individuals in a personal injury case may use the accident report as a starting point in coordinating such a claim. Additionally, statistics and reports of other incidents on the road in question may be helpful for supporting a claim by demonstrating the pattern of problems in the area.
