Haley Broughton
Haley Broughton is an Associate Attorney at Mary Alexander & Associates, P.C., bringing a strong background in consumer protection, technology law, and public policy to her work advocating for clients in complex cases. Her practice is informed by her diverse legal experiences across federal agencies, academic research and public interest law.
Haley earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she received certifications in Law and Technology as well as Consumer Law and Economic Justice. During law school, she was actively involved in the Coalition of Minorities in Technology Law, Women in Technology Law, and the Native American Law Students Association. She also served as Podcast Editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal.
Before joining Mary Alexander & Associates, Haley served as the Christopher M. Patti Legal Fellow with the University of California Office of the President. In that role, she researched and drafted memos, briefs, and legal advisories on issues ranging from litigation and settlement to federal and state statutory analysis. She also worked at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington, D.C., supporting enforcement actions under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Moreover, she has experience in constitutional law and U.S. Supreme Court jurisprudence from her time as a research assistant with Dean Erwin Chemerinsky.
Prior to law school, Haley built a foundation in journalism and media, serving as a Junior Multimedia Producer at EURACTIV in Brussels and as a reporter and producer at KBIA, an NPR-affiliate station in Columbia, Missouri.
Haley’s multidisciplinary background allows her to approach each case with creativity, attention to detail and a deep commitment to justice.
