Mary Alexander Featured in the Parallel Justice Podcast

The “Ghostship: The Warehouse Fire That Caused 36 Deaths” episode of the Parallel Justice Podcast is a powerful memorial and investigation into the 2016 Oakland Ghostship fire.

The podcast features Mary Alexander discussing her experience of being at the forefront of the litigation for one of the deadliest fires in the country’s history.

Alexander shares her insights on the case and goes into extensive detail about the terrifying events that stunned the entire country. A settlement was finally reached in July 2020, after a 3 ½ year long fight, in which the city of Oakland agreed to pay $32.7 million to families of the dead, as well as to one survivor, during the first portion of the case.

The Ghost Ship fire was the deadliest concert fire, as well as one of the deadliest mass-casualty events, in Oakland’s history.

This podcast memorializes the lives that the victims of this tragedy lived and the resilience of the families of the victims as they fight for justice through the civil and criminal system.
